Amazing!
Another amazing show for me. I creeped down to Phils side of the stage and opened the door from the concourse to the arena when Phil's base opened with the beginning of I'm a man, I thought I was dreaming.. as I turned into the hallway, everyone dropped what they were doing and started to groove. I am so glad to have been at this show. I will never forget it.
Thank you gentlemen.

damn good
I'm a Man just goes off- one of the best guest appearances I saw. They did "The Huddle" before launching into it, then Phil's sick intro, the guitars, it was heavy. Jerry just rips it up, great piece of music. The Jack Straw- China Rider was amazing too. Back in 89 almost everything was great. The one tough bit about these shows, including the Earthquake benefit added in SF before LA was that all of the West Coast Heads were frothing at the mouth for the Dark Star after the East Coast tour. For these 4 shows, every segue, out of every space, people were on the edge of their seats hoping and half expecting it. Didn't happen! But a lot of very solid Dead did happen these 3 nights. Thanks again GD!

The LA Player---MC Ice-tee hee hee....I mean Jerry...
The energy coming from this show is SO positive! So much joy coming out of these speakers as I walk through this night @ the Forum. The midi horns in Women Are Smarter just made me laugh--Jerry is playing with such exuberance---fall and winter 1989 are such a hotspot in the history of this band--from here into Spring 90' was just sizzling on so many nights--the midi effects took the music somewhere not quite felt or heard before--add some extra sauce like Hornsby, here and there, and man some shows went down :)

My birthday!!!
Wow, what a show, what a night. It was my 21st birthday, and I burned my fake ID's in the parking lot. I did not like my seats, so after wandering a bit, I wound up sitting with a view from back stage. Really a cool show. I did not quite know how cool it was while it was happening. Can anyone say "nitrous with jets flying low overhead"? What a sound.

6 shows in 4 months
An amazing series of shows. Spencer Davis
waiting back stage. "C. C. Rider" > "I'm a Man"..I knew that was happenin' with the very first note. I was on the floor with the tapers then. I had to hold on to a strange pair of mic
stands to keep from falling down. Yeah! One great show. Too bad, for some reason, unable to download this version.

the fat man rocks
I was in the loge section on Jerry's side for this show and had a great time. Yeah, the stella and baby blue were wonderful. There was a classic moment sometime during the China/Rider. A huge beach ball bounced onstage and landed out in front of Jerry. He stepped out and punted it back into the crowd. The place went nuts!!! as he spun around and walked back behind his mic. The fat man truly rocks :)

This was a great show
This was the 7th GD show I saw and the first really really good one. The Stella Blue and Baby Blue stand out in my mind. Jerry was so special.

In style
Boys close out LA with a doozie. Guests aside. listen to the energy on jack Straw and the extended jam in China Cat. Not a very long show by time standards, but everything is right on and BH adds some fun to the mix.

Wait for me!!
Oh man - I have a picture etched in my mind for all time of Bruce Hornsby frantically trying to keep up with the boys throughout this show. The look on his face during the jams was wonderful and had me smiling all night. What a fun show this was.

Phil & Jerry were the men ...
on I'm A Man! This was the better of the Spencer Davis appearances. I know you Rider with Bruce Hornsby was good also but if you like that tune a lot checik out Sante Fe '83! Good Lovin' was pretty fine also!
